What happens to the figures you enter

The model runs on a server, not inside your browser. When you change an input, that scenario — the prices, rents, rates, and the other numbers on the form — is sent over an encrypted connection to the calculation service, which works out the answer and sends the results back for your browser to display.

Those figures are used for that one calculation and nothing else. They are not stored, not written to any log of ours, and not kept once the answer has been sent. They are not attached to your name or to any identifier, not combined with anything else, and never shared or sold.

Nothing on the form asks who you are. The figures describe a hypothetical property and a hypothetical household, not you, and the form has no field for your name, address, or contact details.

Rate limiting

To stop automated abuse, the calculation service counts how many recent requests have come from each IP address. That count is held in memory for a short period and then discarded. It is not written to disk, not used to identify you, and not used for anything else.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. It is cookieless. It sets no client-side storage, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not collect personal information. There is no cross-site tracking and no advertising profile built from it.

Server logs

This site is served by one provider and the calculation service runs at another. Both record standard request logs, which may include IP address, browser user-agent, and the address requested. These are used for security and reliability, and each provider retains them under its own policy. We do not add anything of our own to those logs, and the figures you enter are not among the things they record.

Advertising and cookies

This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, and review how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com.

Consent, and changing your mind

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before any personalised advertising is served.

You can change or withdraw that consent at any time using the Privacy settings link in the footer of any page. That link appears only where a consent choice applies to you.

California and other US states

Under the CCPA and CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Several other US states give similar rights. Personalised advertising may constitute sharing under those laws. Visitors in those states see a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link, placed on the page by Google’s consent management platform; using it opts you out. You can also opt out via Google’s Ads Settings linked above. This site does not sell personal information for money.

Other jurisdictions

Wherever you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. Requests can be sent to the address below.

Children

This site is aimed at adults making housing decisions and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from them.

Affiliate links

This site currently carries no affiliate or referral links. If that changes, the relationship will be disclosed here and clearly at the point of each link, as required by the FTC.
